How does a proofing gallery work?

A proofing gallery is an online gallery of 20-40 photos that are unedited with a large watermark across the photos. This proofing gallery is emailed to you within 72 hours of your session.

In this proofing gallery, you will "heart" your favourite images. Once you are done choosing your favourites, you will let me know and I will begin to edit your chosen images.

Once your chosen images have been edited, your gallery will be updated with the edited images, watermark removed, and with the ability to download, save, print, or share your images.

How many photos will be in my proofing gallery?

The number of photos available in your proofing gallery depends on how many kids and how the kiddos are. If there are multiple children, you're more likely to have more photos in your proofing gallery because we'll take photos of the kids together as well as individually. If you've got just one kiddo, we can still give you a great gallery with lots of images to choose from. Additionally, how many photos you end up with depend on the kiddos. If they are happy and excited about the chicks, you'll end up with more photos than if they are unhappy or unsure about the animals. Kiddos run the show - but I assure you that we will end up with fabulous images regardless.

What does the set look like?

The set will be simple: white brick background with some greenery on the floor and a green wreath.

How many children can I bring?

As many siblings as you have in your family (only one immediate family per booking).

If you're bringing multiple children: we will do photos of the kids together as well as the kids individually.

Can we add family photos?

Typically, my answer would be yes. But for chick mini sessions, this is best with just kiddos.

What should the kids wear?

I suggest avoiding large logos, avoiding hats, avoiding anything too bold in colour or pattern. For multiple kids, coordinating colours is better than directly matching. Adding texture works as well: adding a cardigan or sweater. No shoes in the studio. I ask that kids are in bare feet, no socks.

How do I get my photos?

Once you've chosen your favourite images and I've edited them, you will receive an email with access to your online gallery. You will have a four digit pin required to download photos. Once your favourite photos have been edited, they are yours to download, save, print, share, etc.

Where is your studio?

My studio is located in my home in Lethbridge.

My address and phone number will be provided privately to you before the session.

Is there a washroom available?

No, there will not be a washroom available during these mini sessions. Because these are short, 5-15 minutes, for Covid safety reasons the washroom will not be available.

Covid Safety Measures

While cleaning practices have always been in place, everything has been amplified due to Covid. I ask that shoes remain at the door and are not worn inside the studio. I ask that clients sanitize their hands upon entry. I will wear a mask for the duration of our shoot, because while I am photographing your family and kiddo it is impossible for me to stay socially distanced. I ask that no one "extra" attends studio sessions (grandparents, friends, etc.), only the people being photographed. I ask that minimal things are brought inside. I will ask that all adults and children of suitable ages wear masks upon entry and when not being photographed. Disposable masks can be provided if necessary and if I am notified in advance. Mini sessions are spaced out to allow for thorough cleaning before and after every family. Everything is cleaned and disinfected before, after, and in between sessions. Because my studio space is in my home, my cleaning practices/expectations are high not only for the safety of your family, but for the safety of my family as well. Please reschedule your session if you or any of your family members have any Covid symptoms. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility during this time.

Returning Client Discount

The returning client discount (25% off) cannot be applied to these mini sessions.

Do you require a deposit?

For chick mini sessions, I do not require a deposit in advance of the session.

When is payment due?

Payment is due once you have chosen your favourite images. Payment is determined based on how many images you want in total. This can be sent in an etransfer to shereehartung@gmail.com

How long will the mini session take?

The Chick Mini Sessions will take 5-15 minutes, so not very long, depending on the kiddo(s)! We work quickly for both the kids and the animals.

What do I need to bring?

Just your beautiful self! I ask that you only bring necessary items just because of Covid and to minimize "extras". Diapers and wipes if your kiddos need it.

Can I bring food or drink into the studio?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Pre-Covid, I would provide snacks and water bottles during sessions but with Covid I have temporarily stopped doing so. No outside food or drink into the studio.

Chick Safety

Parents and I will work together to ensure the safety of the chicks and children. I ask that parents are watching closely and ready to intervene if necessary when it comes to the children handling the chicks. We will have a small barrier so the chicks are contained within the photo space. Please talk with your children in advance about how to safely hold the animals: do not throw, do not squeeze, etc. I would suggest practicing with a stuffed animal in advance. There is no such thing as preparing too much. Preparation and practice will make for better photos with the actual chicks!

Bribery

I wholeheartedly encourage bribery when it comes to taking photos of children :) In fact, I use bribery with my own kiddos too, so I've seen it all. No judgement here - whether it's ice cream or a new hot wheels car - bribe away :)

What props do you have available?

Please let me know in advance if your child cannot sit independently so I can have appropriate props ready for them. I do have a few chairs or wooden props available for kids to sit on or use, but it will depend on how many kids we're photographing at one time, or how engaged they are with the chicks without props.
